Starting the Diploma at KLC back in September, my journey in interior design has already been a hugely transformative experience. I have gained knowledge in a broad portfolio of work including a range of residential, commercial and technical projects, all of which have brought about different challenges, execution ideas and design solutions. Having a background in Art History and Visual Culture, I have enjoyed working with creative concepts in response to the briefs, to create unique design solutions that are both thoughtful and specific to the client.

I have also discovered an interest in exploring graphical approaches to design. This was enhanced during the final project, where we were tasked with creating a design for a commercial cocktail bar. In addition to the physical design aspects, we had the opportunity to develop the branding strategy, creating a visual identity that integrated with the overall design concept. This process has deepened my appreciation for the power of aesthetics and how they can shape the overall experience of a space.

As I reflect on my educational journey so far, I find myself increasingly drawn to the prospect of working on a broad range of commercial and residential projects. The dynamic nature of commercial projects provides an exciting platform to experiment with innovative design solutions and create spaces that cater to the diverse needs of the brand or client. On the other hand, residential projects offer the chance to connect with individuals on a personal level, designing homes that become intimate spaces of comfort and self-expression. I am eager to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead as I enter the world of interior design.
