BA (Hons) Interior Design
My name is Charlotte, originally from Hull in East Yorkshire, I now reside in Manchester.
For me, interior design isn’t just something I enjoy for personal fulfilment; it’s about its meaning, its purpose, and how it can transform everyday lives. For those who don’t have an interest in interior design, its importance can often be overlooked. But imagine if the profession didn’t exist – if spaces were created without consideration for usability, colour, or texture. Would dinner with friends feel the same? Would that morning coffee in your local café still be as enjoyable? Would you feel as productive in your workplace? And would vulnerable people feel safe in spaces made to protect them?
Interior design has the ability to nurture, protect, and bring joy and happiness into the lives of those who use the space. As humans, we are complex beings who connect to places through experiences, through sight, smell, and touch. Without thoughtful design, how could we ever have meaningful or positive experiences with spaces, except perhaps in nature?
Design has the power to change lives. Whether it’s a profound transformation or a subtle shift, that change matters, and that’s what makes interior design special to me.
I want to be a designer that puts people first, where spaces are poetic, purposeful and deeply human.
