Caroline Metcalfe
Hello! I’m Caroline.
Thank you for taking a look at my exhibition page.
Taking a leap into the creative world from a twelve-year career in policing has been the best life decision I’ve made to date. Along with my Interior Design Diploma qualification, I bring with me into the industry a breadth of transferrable skills with great attention to detail and strengths in working calmly under pressure and to tight deadlines, written and verbal communication skills, analytical and organisational skills and problem-solving.
Having completed the diploma, I reflect upon the key strengths that the course has enabled me to develop. My greatest strengths in design lie in my technical drawing skills, 3D-rendering, lighting design, spatial planning and architectural detailing. I believe that my final project demonstrates my determination and the iterative process that I follow with great tenacity to achieve the best possible results.
I believe that strong working relationships are the key to an effectively collaborate team. Throughout my time at KLC I have valued and encouraged morale and support amongst my class-mates which I will take forward with me into the industry. I have developed confidence in networking and building rapport with other professionals and look forward to expanding my network in the industry.
My favourite project during the course was the final project where I designed a cocktail bar worthy of a place among the top global hospitability hotspots. As an ambitious individual, I enjoyed the extra challenges that designing a commercial space brought; this project allowed me the opportunity to fulfil and push beyond the brief by redesigning the staircase, a ceiling that offers true wow-factor and producing a complex, layered lighting plan to create an inviting, intimate and luxurious atmosphere.
I would describe my design style as timeless, relaxed, modern-traditional, full of natural materials, shapes and textures and one which celebrates character and rich accents amongst a warm, earthy palette. I look forward to championing the importance of sustainability in the future of interior design and this key consideration will always inform always informs my design decisions.
I am really looking forward to applying my experience and enhancing my skills in the industry through a range of varied interior design projects.
