Alice Hislop
Hello, I’m Alice. I’m an Interior Designer based in Oxfordshire and working in London.
After initially applying to study Psychology, I began to consider Interior Design as an alternate path during my Art A Level final project. It seemed to be the perfect balance between technical detail and creative design.
I throughly enjoyed exploring each of the varied project briefs during my time at KLC, developing a broad range of skills to prepare me for the industry. Particular highlights were the Final Project, a retail space for a niche Perfumery brand, and the Group Project, a Nature Discovery Centre for The Essex Wildlife Trust, both allowing the opportunity to work with a live brief and to present final proposals to real clients. I am particularly interested in the link between psychology and interiors and how a elements of a space impact our mind and wellbeing.
Part-way into the course, I began working for a mainly residential interior design studio in Oxfordshire, which complemented my studies and greatly increased my real-life knowledge and experience of the industry. After completing the course in December, I began looking for opportunities within Commercial design, and I am now working as a Junior Designer at Studio Jill, guided by a brilliant team on some very exciting projects.
Please see below for a curated selection of work from my time at KLC. For more, please take a look at my portfolio, linked at the bottom of the page.
Finally, If you are considering studying Interior Design or changing career, I can’t recommend KLC highly enough - the tutors, students, projects, course structure and content, industry links and events combined are a winning combination.
