Josephine Ward
I have always been passionate about design, from the moment I was given free rein to re-design my childhood bedroom, however, I never thought I could turn this into a career.
I left sixth form without even considering the possibility of studying Interior Design at university. Having grown up in a family where academic education was not emphasized, I jumped straight into a sales role and soon realised this wasn't where I wanted to be. By the age of 20 I had accumulated sufficient funds to travel the world for 15 months, which opened my eyes to how much life was out there, the boundless opportunities through which design profoundly influences our world. From the vibrant bars and cozy cafes to the welcoming hostels and bustling airports, every corner I explored exuded the captivating "heart and soul" poured into crafting these spaces, leaving an indelible impression on me.
On my return to the UK, I signed up to KLC and completed the 2 year part time diploma, alongside a part time design job for a Kitchen and Bathroom company. These two years proved I wanted to get into commerical design and so, after being awarded a scholarship, I stayed to complete the BA (Hons) Interior Design which has allowed me to refine my skillset and enable me to make my designs more impactful and meaningful.
I pride myself in my eye for detail and my commitment to the client and the user, always focussing on the people who will be using the space. Design has the power to inspire, evoke emotions, and change lives. It is a harmonious blend of art, science, and empathy. I am driven by the belief that through design, we can create spaces that bring joy, comfort, and inspiration to people's lives.
