Having worked as a horticulturist for nearly two decades, I believe I have a feel and understanding for landscape, gardens, nature and plants that comes from working with them throughout the seasons and over time. The work has given me a great appreciation of ecosystems, the delicate balance of the natural world and our place in it.

For twelve years I worked as a gardener at Beth Chatto Gardens which gave me great lessons in how plants respond and thrive if given the right opportunity to do so. People's positive responses to a thriving natural environments is always a pleasure for me to witness, and I would very much like to be part of a team that produces designs that can enhance people's lives this way.

My strength is in designing spaces that are for people but led by the place; they are informed by my knowledge and love of plants, and how these fit into and enhance this sense of place. However, I feel that gardens, the materials used to build them and the plants going into them, have to not only work for people but also become a useful part the natural world, and I would like to make sustainable, resilient, healthy gardens with this in mind.

The skills I have gained at KLC this past year include spatial design, planting design and the basics of construction.

I am very pleased to say that I have graduated from KLC in 2023 with distinction.
